Storytellers

Having met as college roommates at Carnegie Mellon University, this writing duo quickly became best friends and decided later in life to share their well-lived experiences through writing. Suzy Perrino and Anji Cornette are the creators of SWEET MIX STORIES and publish under the pen names of Angelina Marie and Muku Marie.

Their narratives draw inspiration from their 30+ years of work in the arts and entertainment industry. They’ve encountered and worked with some very colorful artists and managers. Thus, their stories are inspired and reflective of their vivid and multi-dimensional lives - adding a twist to a traditional Rom Com, Dramedy, or Cozy Mystery. They have strong female leads that are based on real and imaged characters who are dynamic, captivating, and flawed, and who have challenges with careers, family demands, relationships, love, and sometimes murder and mystery. Of course, delicious cuisine, festive dancing, amazing fashions, and all types of music are part of every narrative adventure.

Suzy and Anji have been writing screenplays and novels together since 2021 and started their collaboration on-line. Their collection of work also includes three cozy mysteries that have just the right balance of blood, intrigue, comedy, and romance.

This writing team is supported by their fabulous writer’s group called the The Hugettes, the name reflective of their origin story which was inspired by a Rom Com class led by screenwriter Zac Hug. Anji is also a member of Story Summit and values insights from mentor and founder David Paul Kirkpatrick.

Anji has executive produced over 2,000 dramatized audiobooks. She has been in rock bands as a singer, keyboardist, and an award-winning songwriter with her band, HarvestBloom, scoring music sync licensing deals for several television shows including American Restoration and This is Life with Lisa Ling. She served as a GRAMMY Voting Member from 2013 until 2018. She believes creating art is in our DNA whether its writing music or writing stories and that it’s even better when we can add different cultural experiences and fusion favorite fashion and cuisine to the mix.

Having started as an oboist in the Classical music world, Suzy has spent the majority of her career as an executive producer of educational and community programming with symphony orchestras, creating engaging experiences for over 1 million children and families. She is a strong advocate for music education, welcoming and accessible arts experiences, and amplifying diverse voices, artists, and perspectives through innovative and collaborative programs.
